New Ulm Sports Central - Preserving and Sharing New Ulm Area Sports History

New Ulm Gold is headed to the state American Legion tournament after a 14-2 win over Mankato National in the second of two championship games. Mankato had won the "must win" contest 11-5 to stay alive and set up the final game.

Gold sent 15 batters to the plate and added seven hits to score 12 runs in the first inning of the second game. Highlight was a grand slam home run by Jason Shaul.

Brett Gieseke scattered 10 hits for the pitching win.
