EGAN BLANKS CHASKA 10-0; NEW ULM BOWS 5-2 IN SATURDAY VFW

SLEEPY EYE --- Getting a two-hit performance from pitcher Sweeney, Egan blanked Chaska 10-0 in action Saturday afternoon to gain the championship series Sunday in the District 2 VFW tournament. Chaska immediately bounced back to edge Hutchinson 4-2 and reach the finals also. Egan is undefeated and would have to lose twice to Chaska.

New Ulm Jr. Legion dropped out of the tournament when it lost its second game 5-2 to Hutchinson. New Ulm had only four hits, two each by Davis and Kannegiesser. Anderson had double for Hutchinson. Hutchinson scored all five runs in the first three innings and was aided with six stolen bases in seven attempts.

Kaiser was the winner and Neumann the loser.

As Egan blanked Chaska, it led 4-0 until ending the contest with a six-run inning in the last of the fifth.

Egan was four for four in stolen bases to trigger the win. Doubles in the game were by Matt Fiedler of Egan and Kjosling of Chaska.

Hutchinson plays Chaska in the Saturday final game for the right to advance to the finals against a strong Egan team.
