LAMBERTON --- Lamberton stayed in contention for a state amateur baseball tournament berth with a Region 2C do-or-die 2-1 playoff win here Wednesday night over Leavenworth. The Long Sox now play Sleepy Eye at Sleepy Eye Friday with the winner to get the final tournament spot. Hanska had qualified earlier.
The remaining two teams will play Saturday at Hanska to determine the region's champion and runner-up teams. A second game is necessary, is reserved for Sunday.

"Derrick Jenniges tossed a three-hit complete game to help the Lamberton Long Sox stave off eliminiation in the Region 2C playoffs in a 2-1 victory over Leavenworth Wednesday in Lamberton. Jenniges struck out three and allowed no walks in his clutch outing.
Matt Samyn came up with a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning to give the Long Sox a 1-0 lead. After the Orioles tied the game in the seventh, Lamberton got an RBI single from Colby Pack in the bottom of the eighth, which proved to be the game winner.
Pack was 2-for-4 in the game and scored a run. Mike Wotschke and Tyler Reiner each had two hits for the Long Sox.
Lamberton had nine hits in the game, all singles.
Leavensworth's lone run came on an RBI double by Jake Schwartz in the seventh.
