Afer a 17-game hitting streak, a hot hitting August and setting a new record for errorless games in any Pacific Coast League season ever, Jamie Hoffmann today was named the most valuable player for the Albuquerque Isotopes.
The website announcement made Sunday evening included the following release.
"The Albuquerque Isotopes have unveiled the 2011 Isotopes Player's Choice Awards, with outfielder Jamie Hoffmann earning team Most Valuable Player accolades. In addition to MVP, starting pitcher Dana Eveland was named Pitcher of the Year, Jerry Sands was the PNM Power Hitter of the Year, Russ Mitchell took Defensive Player of the Year, Joe Becker nabbed Mr. Hustle honors, Damaso Espino was named the team's Most Community-Minded player, and John Lindsey won the Fan Favorite Award. All awards are voted on by Isotopes players and coaches, except Most Community-Minded, which is determined by the Isotopes front office, and Fan Favorite, which is voted on by 'Topes fans throughout the season.

"Outfielder Jamie Hoffmann has been a crucial part of the Isotopes all season, ranking first on the team in games (125), runs (88), doubles (22), and RBI (82) entering play on Sunday. Hoffmann has also belted a career-high 22 home runs, second-most on the team. On August 9, Hoffmann tied a team record with five hits, including two home runs, and hit in a team-high 17 straight games from August 2-19, batting .421 with 20 runs, six doubles, seven homers, and 23 RBI over that span. He's also been superb in the outfield, playing all three positions flawlessly. Hoffmann currently holds the Pacific Coast League record for consecutive error-free games by an outfielder with 188, surpassing a mark that had stood for 52 years."
