New Ulm Sports Central - Preserving and Sharing New Ulm Area Sports History

A trove of bowling history was added this week to the archives of New Ulm Sports Central.

City tournaments for the years 1978 to 1991 were contributed to NUSC by Dennis Penkert, a tournament official during that time period. The material provides city team, doubles, singles and all-events champions and their scores as well as participation stats and records for 13 years involved.

Previously other years were gathered from tournament results sheets and scrapbooks.

"We plan to scan these "as is" to ensure a second copy is available and post that this Internet site to share and further preserve this important part of New Ulm's sports history, comments director Herb Schaper. The second phase of the preservation project is to convert all the material to a digital spread sheet to provide the ability to 'crunch the numbers' as only a spread sheet can do", he added.
