New Ulm's Nate VanRoeckel has received All-American honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America.
An announcement shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday reported he was selected to the All-America third team as its second baseman and is joined by fellow Winona player and shortstop Seth McMullen Jr. The award is for Division 2 schools and included St. Cloud's s Loan Birr. Bemidji State's sophomore catcher Zach Braun made the second team.
Joining VanRoekel on the third squad was St. Cloud pitcher Logan Birr, a senior. Honorable mention included St. Cloud outfielder Phil Imholte and Harvey Martin of Minnesota State-Mankato.
The award follows conference and regional honors already received by VanRoeckel who will be employed at Itron of Waseca after graduation.
