Minnesota Valley Lutheran won the girl's championship and St. Croix Falls took the boy's title in the conclusion of the first annual high school tip-off tournament Saturday at Martin Luther College in New Ulm.
Anna Munson's 11 points led MVL to a 42-40 win over St. Croix Lutheran. MVL's boy's team lost the third place game to St. Croix Lutheran 75-57 as Sam Gostchack hit for 20 points for the winners.
Paul Draeger picked up 18 points to set the pace for West Lutheran's 48-43 triumph over Illinois Lutheran int he boy's title game. West's girls topped Illinois 46-6 to win the girl's third place game. Abbie Westberg had 13 for West.
Officials are looking to expand the tournament to eight Lutheran high schools next year with an emphasis on Wisconsin teams.
