Springfield's Bussie Wagner Dies

Former Springfield athlete Bussie Wagner has passed away. He was an outstanding baseball player and bowler and son of Springfield baseball immortal Bassie Wagner. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 15 at Fridley, Mn/. The following obituary appeared in the Minneapolis Tribune.

"Wagner, Sebastion Silas "Bussie" Born in Springfield, MN Feb 21 1938. Buss was active the in the building material industry in sales for many years. He was active and very successful in many sports including baseball and bowling. He started college at the U of M on a baseball scholarship, but forgot that going to class was part of the requirement. He was an army veteran. He was an accomplished bowler. He is in the Minnesota Hall of Fame and won over 100 amateur tournaments and a couple professional tournaments and almost won the US Open in Madison Square Garden. He retired from Alpine Engineered Production in 2001 and after not bowling for 25 years due to back issues, he started bowling again in retirement and promptly shot an 806 along with his 3rd sanctioned 300 game and 800 series. Survived by sons, Craig and Terry Wagner; stepdaughters, Suzanne and Michelle Hamilton; grandchildren, Bailey, Emma and Rachel; sister, Gail and special friend, Sophie Sorenson. Bussie was preceded in death by father, Sebastion (Bassie) Silas Wagner Jr, mother, Evelyn; wife, Constance and brother, Douglas Wagner. Private interment will be held at Fort Snelling and a celebration of life on Saturday, June 15 at 181 Rice Creek Terrace, Fridley, "
