Burnsville wins 2013 Classic with 16-6 march over Eastview

Scoring six runs six runs in the first inning and finishing with seven in the 5th, Burnsville moved past Eastview 16-6 in a l0-run rule shortened Midwest Classic championship game. Eastview had made it interesting when it came within 6-4 in the fourth inning before the winners planed three more in the seventh.

Eastview reached the finals with a 4-1 triumph over Chaska. Burnsville was the defending champion.

Burnsville tops New Ulm 7-3 to gain finals of Classic
Burnsville broke a 1-1 tie with a three-run homer and defeated New Ulm 7-3 to advance to the championship game of the Upper Midwest Classic. Bloomington will play the winner of the Chaska/Eastview noon game immediately following that contest.

    New Ulm (4-0) one of four finalists in Upper Midwest Classic

    Four finalists to meet for Upper Midwest Classic base ball tournament honors Sunday July 7.
    Saturday games advanced New Ulm Gold, Burnsville, Chaska and Eastview .

    Sunday's championship series will pit New Ulm Gold against Burnsville at 9:30 a.m. and Apple Valley Eastview against Chaska at noon.

    Five Teams stand 2-0 in Legion Classic after Friday night

    Games scheduled all over the immediate New Ulm area started to separate the contenders from the not-so fortunate nines in the Upper Midwest Baseball Classic.

    Four teams won both of their games played in the first two days including New Ulm Gold in Pool A, Burnsville in B, Creighton, NE in C and both Apple Valley Eastview and Wayzata in D. Plover, WI won its only Friday game in B. Five teams have lost both of their opening encounters.

    Highest scoring teams have been Wayzata and Apple Valley Eastview each with 21 runs. Creighton has 18.

    New Ulm and Chaska open tournament with wins

    New Ulm squeaked by Prior Lake 6-5 and Chaska slammed Kenyon 10-0 in the opening games of the American Legion Post 132 Midwest Classic at Johnson park Thursday night. The 20-team tournament concludes Sunday with championship games.

    Four States Represented in Legion Classic

    The New Ulm American Legion Baseball Upper Midwest Classic begins its four-day run here Thursday night bringing 20 top-notch youth baseball teams to diamonds at Johnson and Mueller Parks in New Ulm plus the fields in Essig, Searles and Sleepy Eye.

    The teams represent four mid-western states including South Dakota, Wisconsin and Nebraska.

    The championship format will find the winners of four five-team pools advancing to next Sunday's final day in semi-final contests. Runners-up will not qualify for the championship Sunday.

    Each team will play four pool games. Potential won-lost ties are broken by a number of tie-breakers.

    For the first time in 25 years, New Ulm will have only one team since not enough players were available to field a Blue team this season.
