Don Boelter, star athlete at New Ulm high school and at Luther College at Decorah Iowa in the mid 20th century has passed away. Funeral is Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church., Sleepy Eye.

Boelter was outstanding in basketball and baseball at New Ulm High School and a top performer in amateur baseball in this area, principally at New Ulm and Sleepy Eye where he spent most of his life as one of Minnesota's most successful baseball coaches. He was selected to Minnesota High School coaches Hall of Fame. don had also played with Courtland in his high school days then Franklin and Belle Plaine.
At Luther he was named to the college sports Hall of Fame for his contributions to basketball and baseball and also was also elected to the Minnesota State High School League coaches Hall of Fame. His record for coaching ranked him in the top five in the state.
He was one of the players given one of three rookie classifications in the final days of the Western Minnesota when most of the other players on a team could be outside players.
