Doyle Schneider, a Hall of Fame member of New Ulm baseball, has passed away. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.M. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Visitation
will be 4-7 p.m. Monday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH Chapel in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at church Tuesday.
Schneider was an outstanding hitter and played most positions including service as a dependable pitcher for the Brewers and Mllers and was a consistent .300 plus hitter with good power.
Doyle is survived by his sons, Mark (Chelito) Schneider of Chesapeake, Va., Scott (Samantha) Schneider of Sartell, Keith Schneider of New Ulm; grandchildren, Kristen, Cameron, Olivia, Rachael and Joshua; and a great-grandson, Kayden.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his wife, Marilyn Schneider.
Doyle Luverne Schneider was born June 20, 1935 in New Ulm to George and Leona (Wieland) Schneider. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Miller on March 22, 1958 in Mankato. After marriage they resided in New Ulm where he was employed at the Hauenstein Brewery and then Holm Industries until his retirement. Doyle played amateur baseball for the New Ulm Millers and Brewers for more than 20 years and also played softball until the age of 59. He enjoyed deer hunting, waterfowl hunting and fishing. Doyle was the great-great grandson to August Schell and loved spending time in the Schell Brewery feeding the deer.
He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church and the New Ulm Baseball Hall of Fame.
