LAS VEGAS MOVES TO CLASSIC CHAMPIONSHIP

Las Vegas took out Plover, WI 4-2 in the first semi-final game of the championship weekend at the Upper Midwest Classic in New Ulm Sunday. Minnesota Eastview and Nebraska Creighton were matched in the second semi-final contest and the game is underway.

Perennial contenders from four different states were vying for the championship of the Upper Midwest Legion baseball classic at Johnson Park Sunday.

Plover, WI advanced to a 9:30 a.m. game against Las Vegas, NV while Minnesota's Eastview meets Creighton NE at noon. Las Vegas plays the winners play for the title a half hour after completion of the scheduled noon game. Nevada, Eastview and Creighton came into the finals with perfect records. Plover lost one game at the start of the tournament and then took three straight to advance.

New Ulm Gold also had a 3-1 record but was outscored in the tournament by Plover 23-19. All three of Gold's wins were by one run.

Las Vegas gave up only six runs in the tournament, four in a one-run win over Burnsville. Prior Lake score 37 runs. Kenyon managed only three in its four losses.
