Lifetime Baseball Batting Stats Page

Bauermeister was an active player in the 1930s with New Ulm teams who played at the fairgrounds, and he later joined the New Ulm Baseball Association sponsored teams of the Millers and Brewers. "Mugga" played until 1948, when he was almost 40 years old.

Bauermeister played third base in his prime, and he finished his career as a backup catcher for various Brewer teams in the 1940's. He was a member of the 1943 state Class A champion Brewers and was also drafted as a catcher for the Springfield state championship team in 1944. He participated for New Ulm on the state tournament teams of 1939 and 1947 and umpired for four years after he finished his playing career.

Bauermeister had a career-high five hits (of his 13 for the whole season) in a 7-31-38 game against Hector. His teammate Reinhold Mau also collected four hits in the same game.

Bauermeister's unusual nicknamed, "Mugga", comes from the German word meaning "obstinate."
