he
compiled merely average statistics in high school and Legion baseball, Bode
went on to become a career .300 hitter in 11 seasons with the
Brewers and Kaiserhoff.
A

Brewers for the rest of his career, except in 1977 when the Brewer team
took a one-year leave of absence.

He
compiled a lifetime .302 average in 238 games and 847 at-bats.

doubles against Courtland, while he also recorded five hits on June 26, 1976 against Madelia. In six
of his seasons he batted over .300, with a high of .375 in 22 games
during the 1973 season.
