Lifetime Baseball Batting Stats Page

Bruce Gieseke was one of those special players who became a fixture in New Ulm baseball. He played for 13 full seasons, including eleven with the New Ulm Brewers and two years with the Kaiserhoff. In five of those seasons he averaged better than a hit per game.

Bruce had his best batting year in 1978, when he hit .356. That year he also had three games in which he collected three hits. Bruce batted .325 in 1982.

Gieseke had a career game in 1979, when he had five runs-batted in at Springfield.

Bruce was one of New Ulm's best-fielding second baseman, especially when he was forced to go back for fly balls. His good eye at the plate also gave him a great ability to get walks and get on base. Besides playing second, Gieseke also spent time at shortstop and third base.

Bruce broke into amateur ball at Brownton in 1971 and had a three-hit performance in that first game.
