Bob Knutson came to New Ulm baseball as a teacher at New Ulm Public Schools in 1961. He played for the New Ulm Brewers from 1961-1963, and in that span he threw 4 shutouts and 4 one run games. He also once pitched 36 consecutive innings without giving up an earned run, and he had another span of 34 consecutive scoreless innings.

Bob was the consummate control pitcher, especially when the team needed him the most. He was 6-2 during the playoffs for his career with a 1.74 ERA. He always gave a top notch effort on the field.

During his three seasons, Bob was 19-13 and threw 259 innings with a 2.22 ERA, 147 strikeouts, and only 78 walks. He also batted .289 in 135 ABs from the plate.

Bob continued to serve New Ulm baseball for many years as a coach in the lower ranks at New Ulm Public.
