In just five seasons, Carl Lemke made his mark on New Ulm baseball.

As a pitcher, he won 36 games and lost only 11, for a .76 career winning percentage. He was always known for being a "master of the curve ball" and as a player who had an outstanding work ethic and strong competitor traits. He also earned the reputation of being a clutch pitcher in the playoffs.

Lemke is now returning to Minnesota to coach football at St. Croix Lutheran High School, after he coached football at Prairie du Chien and at Wisconsin Lutheran High School in Milwaukee.

Carl was instrumental in the 1971 and 1972 playoff championships and in the state tournament play in both of those years, as he recorded a 10-1 record in postseason play.

During his career, Lemke pitched 10 complete or combined shutouts and compiled a career ERA of 1.96.  He won 12 games in 1971 and struck out 494 batters while walking only 148 in 434 innings for his career.

Lemke became involved in New Ulm baseball through his collegiate play at Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm.
