When New Ulm Baseball was organized as we know it today, chances are that Howard Lindemann was involved in some way. Although he was selected for the Hall of Fame as a player, his contributions off the field were also instrumental in his selection.

Howie helped organize both the first New Ulm High School team in 1933 and also the first American Legion team in that same year as well. A year later, the team won the state championship. He batted .333 in high school and .372 in American Legion.

After the New Ulm Baseball Association was formed in 1940, he helped put together the New Ulm Millers farm team and also managed it that season to a 7-7 record.

As a player, Howie was a member of both the 1941 and 1943 mythical state amateur champions.

He had his best personal hitting year in 1940, when he had a .345 batting average and a .509 slugging average.
