New Ulm HALL OF FAME Member
A. R. (Al) Mueller
Non-Player (Director, Special Support)
Selected 1995
A.R. (Al) Mueller
has had a lifelong interest in the game of baseball. While
his
selection to the New Ulm Amateur Hall of Fame is based on his service to
local amateur baseball, his support also has been freely given to
New Ulm High school and Legion ball as well.
Mueller
began his service on the board of New Ulm Baseball Association in
1966. After a layoff, he returned to the board in 1988 and
continues to serve, often selling tickets at the gate at Johnson
Park. He has been delegate to the Ara Wilson League since 1948.
Al is a
member of the Hall of Fame committee, and in 1991 he co-chaired New
Ulm's bid for the state baseball Hall of Fame museum. Mueller also
served as a committee chairman for the 1990 state tournament in New
Ulm, is active with
New Ulm American Legion baseball, and served as a member of the
Johnson Park restoration committee in 1994.
Mueller came to New Ulm from Arlington, where he played some
baseball, including a 1950 regional game against Leavenworth. He and
his brothers were considered fixtures at the state amateur
tournament each year.
Mueller continues to stay active in New Ulm baseball.
