            Jerry played for New Ulm High School and the New Ulm Legion team in 1965 and 1966. In 1966 he began playing outfield for the New Ulm Millers and played for three years. In two of those years the team played in the state tournament.

            After his playing career, Jerry resumed his involvement in baseball as the manager of the Kaiserhoff from 1985-1988. He later served as an assistant coach for the Kaiserhoff in 1990 and 1993.

            While those coaching years were times of rebuilding for the Kaiserhoff, Jerry had a knack for getting the most of the talent which he was given. His 1988 team fell one game short of the state tournament, and both the 1990 and 1993 teams went to the state tournament.
