Lifetime Baseball Batting Stats Page
Impressive stats and constant improvement highlight
the career of inductee Jeff Schugel, who went on to become the
scouting director for the Colorado Rockies.
Schugel
improved considerably each year and finished with a career .332
batting average that amounted to well over one hit per game in his career.
As
a third
baseman-outfielder who played four years at Mankato State and
eventually signed a pro contract with the Twins, Schugel was a
member of the 1980 state champion Kaiserhoff. He had key hits both in
the 11th inning of a regional win at Stark and in the 4-3 state tournament opener.
In 1982 he
batted .437 to lead the Kaiserhoff, hitting safely in 22 of 25 games
and getting more than one hit in 12 of those games.
During his
four full seasons with the Kaiserhoff, the team won the Ara Wilson
League regular season title once and the playoff title twice and made three
regional appearances, culminating in the state championship
Schugel hit
.291 in 182 at bats for New Ulm High School and .378 in 225
appearances for Legion.
