          Ronald Spelbrink was honored by being selected to inaugural group of inductees to the New Ulm Baseball Hall of Fame during Johnson Park's 50th Anniversary celebration in 1989.

          Spelbrink played third base, shortstop and pitcher for the New Ulm Brewers. He began his career in 1939 and played until 1950 with the exception of the four war years from 1942-45. He was a member of the 1941 Class "A" and mythical state champions, the 1947 runners-up, and the 1939 state tournament entrant.

          In 190 games he had a career batting average of .289 with 14 homers, 25 triples and 29 doubles with 117 RBI. As a pitcher, he was 6-1 with a 2.90 ERA.
