Lifetime Baseball Batting Stats Page

The nomination of Al Wieland to the New Ulm Baseball Hall of Fame rewards the nine seasons he spent with the New Ulm Brewers from 1978 through 1986. During that time, Al was a catcher and an outfielder, and he was always known as a hard worker who went on to develop into a good hitter.

Wieland averaged .305 over his nine-year career. His best year was 1982 when he hit .471. During that season he had 11 multi-hit games, and he hit safely in 16 of the 17 games. His other top batting averages were his .340 mark in 1979 and his .377 average in 1985. His best RBI season was 1985, when he drove in 21 runs. During his career he averaged more than one hit per game and had seven home runs.

Wieland played two years with New Ulm High School and two summers with the Legion team.
