Mike Wilfahrt recorded many noteworthy baseball statistics as a pitcher, but as a skilled shortstop for the Kaiserhoff for seven years, it was his hustle, field leadership, and clutch performances which rated him as one of New Ulm baseball’s finest players.

Mike ranked in the top 10 all-time Kaiserhoff batting records in various categories during his playing days. He made it into the top 10 in games played by a Kaiserhoff player, at-bats, runs, hits, doubles, triples, and total bases.

As a pitcher, Wilfahrt averaged better than a strike-out per inning. In 1977 he compiled an eight and one record with a 1.86 ERA. For his career, Wilfahrt recorded 189 strikeouts in 150 innings and pitched three shutouts, including shutout wins over Hutchinson and Gaylord. He also twice pitched the Kaiserhoff to wins against Hector while adding four-hit nights at the plate. He was a member of three Ara Wilson League season championship teams and the 1975 state tournament team.

At Cathedral High School, Mike had a 20-4 record and struck out 266 batters in 160 innings. In Legion ball, Mike fanned 193 hitters in 116 innings while compiling a 12 and 3 record with an 0.60 ERA.
